We are happy to announce the second SevCol event, that will take place on a railway yard in Amersfoort ! A small and agile spaceship will be built using two real-life trains, generously made available by the Stichting Historisch Dieselmateriaal. The ship will be used for an in-game mission to find out what happened to a mining colony on asteroid 4179 Toutatis. What is the reason for the sudden loss of all contact with the colony ? Pirates ? A labour strike ? A corporate takeover ? Or perhaps a catastrophical technical failure ? Join the mission to find out ! It will be a one-day event, focussing on what-you-see-is-what-you-get roleplay in an immersive science-fiction environment.
We are glad to announce that we have secured a pretty neat location for the second SevCol event on September 5th. We will be able to use a real life train ! The vehicle is a retired NS train, based in Amersfoort, that we will convert to a small, speedy spaceship, specially suited for a scouting and salvaging mission. We are very excited to have the opportunity to use this special location, as it will enable us to create a real immersive experience.
SevCol will be present at the Makers Festival Twente, on May 30 and 31 at the Performance Factory in Enschede. We will be showing our bridge stations and simulation software, and give visitors the opportunity to experience our space ship bridge. For more information, please check http://makerfestivaltwente.nl/nl/
We have received quite a few characters already, and you have been very creative with the various resume’s. To prevent a tsunami of different universities, colleges, and other educational institutes in new character’s resumes, we have compiled a list with the most well-known educational institutions in the Solar System. You can find it in the Higher Education Institutes section in the Encyclopedia Galactica. When creating a new character, please have a look at this page for inspiration and guidelines for your character’s background.
Furthermore, we have revised the Money and Property section of the Player’s Handbook. Designing economic systems for larps is always a difficult thing, but with some usefull suggestions from Remy Smeets we have made our system a lot more realistic. Be advised to check the cost of living on the page, as it has been substantially altered. For the upcoming event, we will brief you about the amount of credits your characters has next week.
We have some new clothing advise for the upcoming event. Since most of you will be playing either a recruit at the Academy, or a non-uniform wearing character, no uniforms are required yet (for Marine characters, please see our previous post). Although this means you can basically wear anything, please try to match your clothing to the colony you come from and the luxury level you can afford.
We’ve heard there is some confusion about the two different online forms for SevCol. We will clarify the use of both forms.
To register for the upcoming event on March 21, please fill out the Registration form. This form is voor organisational purposes only; you should complete if you want to participate, whether as player, wild card, or organisation member. You do not need a character for this form, it only asks basic information. If you are planning to participate, please do fill out this form a little bit earlier than the day before the event 😉
If you want to create a character, you can do so with the Create Account form. You can create a character even if you are not planning to participate on the event; our databases are large enough. We actually encourage everybody to create a character. A character will give you acces to SevBook, our online social network, where you can find all sorts of information about the game world, and can get an idea about the game systems. Even if you register as a wild card, or if you are not sure about the player character you want to play on the event, just go ahead and create your character. You can always create a different character later on.
We have compiled a list of the basic clothing and equipment we would like marine players to have (just to be clear, marines are not bridge crew; we will post about bridge crew costumes later). We are trying to present a consistent look and feel for the game, and marine squads should be very recognizable and uniform. But don’t worry, we will keep it simple an inexpensive.
We had to iron out some bugs, but you can now create your character on our website ! Even if you plan to participate as a Wild Card (which means we will create a character for you) we encourage you to try the system. Creating a character will give you acces to SevBook, our in-game social network, that you can explore to learn about the game world and get an idea about what the larp will be about.
